日本の歴史の中で脈々と受け継がれてきた着物も、形状はほぼ同じですが、やはり洋服の様に流行はありました。

現在は日本に来る海外の方が目にする多くの日本人はほぼ洋服スタイルですが、第二次世界大戦が終わる頃(昭和初期)までは着物がほとんどでした。

大正時代では和服が普段着として普及していました。 アールデコ調のものや銘仙など新しい和服がたくさん出来、現在の和服の着付け方が完成した時期でもあります。

In the Taisho era, Japanese clothes were popular as everyday wear. A lot of new Japanese clothes such as art deco style and Meisen were made, and it was also the time when the current way of wearing Japanese clothes was perfected.

昭和時代ですが、初期は和服が普段着でした。

実はもんぺも和服の一種ですので（構造的に袴の仲間です）、戦時中も和服が普段着だったと行っても間違いではありません。

In the early days of the Showa period, Japanese clothes were the usual clothes.

In fact, monpe is also a kind of wafuku (structurally related to hakama), so it is not wrong to say that wafuku was casual wear even during the war.

ちなみに男性は仕事で動き回る割合が高いので、文学者など一部の人間を除き女性より早く洋服に移行している様です♪

By the way, men tend to move around a lot at work, so with the exception of some people such as literary figures, they seem to switch to clothes earlier than women.
