「絞り」は、人類最古の染色法であり、一粒一粒に職人の手間が込められた美の極致です。

本来は「絞り染め」と称されますが、「絞り」と略されることが一般的です。

「絞り染め」は、布の一部を糸で括ったり、専用の器具を用いて挟んだり、折ったり、縛るなどの方法で防染し、その部分が染まらないようにすることで模様を作り出す技法のことです。

Tie-dyeing is a technique that creates a pattern by tying a part of the cloth with thread, pinching it with a special tool, folding it, or tying it up to prevent dyeing. That's what I mean.
